Golden Wolves Go 2-2 at Gator “Boots” Duals

Nashville, Tenn. (December 20, 2025) - Alvernia University recorded dual victories over The University of Ozarks and Huntingdon College but fell to #8 Loras College and #24 Luther College Saturday afternoon at the Gator "Boots" Duals in Nashville, Tennessee. 

The duals were hosted by Luther College and the Golden Wolves beat Ozarks 32-18 and then took down Huntingdon 38-7. Alvernia then fell to #8 Loras 45-0 and #24 Luther College, 36-15. 

Match 1: Alvernia: 32, Ozarks: 19

How it Happened 
 
  • The University of the Ozarks jumped out to a 9-0 lead with a major decision and win by technical fall at 125 and 133 pounds. Alvernia got on the board with a fall in just under five minutes by Aiden Swann at 141 pounds, and the Golden Wolves took the 12-9 lead with a fall in 1:14 by Chance Babb at 149 pounds.
  • The Golden Wolves kept it rolling from there. A 15-0 technical fall win by Brandon Flores-Salazar gave the Golden Wolves the 17-9 lead, and Ryan Lepore picked up a 13-2 major decision win at 165 pounds for the 21-9 lead.
  • Ozarks got six back on an injury default win at 174 pounds to cut Alvernia's lead down to six, 21-15, with three bouts to go. 
  • The Golden Wolves picked up another six points to take a 27-15 lead with a Hayden McLellan pin in 2:40 at 184 pounds. Jason Chiodi then secured a 15-0 technical fall win at 197 to give the Golden Wolves 32-15 lead. Ozarks took the final points of the match with a major decision win at heavyweight, but the Golden Wolves took the match, 32-19.

Match 2: Alvernia: 38, Huntingdon: 7

How it Happened
  • Huntingdon got on the board first with a major decision win at 125 pounds, but Alvernia rattled off wins at the next three weight classes to jump out to a 16-4 lead. Steven Harris took 133 pounds with a fall in 1:18, and Nolan Brown grabbed a 23-6 technical fall win at 141 pounds. Chance Babb took the third straight win for Alvernia with an 18-3 technical fall win at 149 pounds.
  • After Huntingdon got three points back at 157 pounds, Alvernia swept the rest of the bouts to secure the 38-7 match win. Ian Vitalo took 165 pounds via a 23-7 technical fall win, and William Knapp took 174 pounds with an 18-0 technical fall win. Hayden McLellan won 184 pounds via a fall in one minute flat, and Jason Chiodi and Tristan Cooper took 197 pounds and 285 pounds with wins by decision.

Match 3: Alvernia: 0, #8 Loras: 45

How it Happened 
  • Loras jumped out to an early 20-0 lead after the first five matches of the third dual of the day after a tech fall at 125 and 157 pounds, decisions at 149 pounds and 133 pounds and then a major decision at 141 pounds. 
  • The Duhawks then recorded back to back falls at 165 and 174 pounds to increase the advantage to 32-0. 
  • Loras then closed out the Golden Wolves with a decision at 184 pounds, a fall at 197 pounds and then a major decision at 285 pounds to secure the 45-0 victory. 


Match 4: Alvernia: 15 vs. #24 Luther:36 

How it Happened 
  • The Norse jumped out to an early 14-0 victory over the Golden Wolves with a decision at 125 pounds, a tech fall at 133 and a fall at 141 pounds. 
  • The Golden Wolves got on the board at 149 pounds thanks to a Chance Babb 7-6 decision over Quentin Vilmenay to make it 14-3. 
  • The Norse then responded with three straight pins at 157,165 and 174 pounds to extend the lead to 32-3. 
  • Alvernia would post two pins in the final three matches of the dual with Hayden McLellan posting a fall over Griffin Schultz in 2:02 and Owen Reber pinned Ethan Peper in 37 seconds but it was not enough as the Norse secured the 36-15 victory over the Golden Wolves.
