Golden Wolves Take Down Saints, 36-14

Reading, Pa (February 15, 2025) - Alvernia University took down Marymount University by a score of 36-14 in a non-conference men's wrestling dual Saturday afternoon at Alvernia's PLEX.

How it Happened

The Golden Wolves and the Saints traded forfeits back and forth after the first two bouts of the day after Julian Zaragoza received a forfeit at 125 pounds and then Marymount received a forfeit at 133 pounds to make it 6-6.
Marymount then grabbed three more points in the 141 pound match after Garrett Gehr fell to Temuujin Erdenetuya by decision, 11-10 to make it 9-6.
The Golden Wolves then ripped off five straight wins in a row to swing the lead in favor of Alvernia, 32-9. Quinn Tobin started things off with a 17-0 tech fall in the 149 pound match and then Aiden Swann recorded a victory by fall in just 46 seconds at 157 pounds.
Matthew Lackman and Nathan Lackman then recorded back to back wins at 165 and 174 pounds to push the lead to 28-9. Matthew Lackman recorded a 18-1 tech fall at 165 pounds and then Nathan Lackman tallied a win by fall in 2:07 in the 174 pound match.
Hayden McLellan tallied the fifth victory in a row after he recorded an 11-3 major decision in the 184 pound match to make it 32-9.
Brian Czaus dropped the 197 pound match by tech fall but Owen Reber recorded a 10-1 major decision in the 285 pound match to secure the 36-14 victory over the Saints.

Alvernia is back in action on February 28th when they travel to the NCAA Region 3 Regional tournament.
