Golden Wolves Fall to Mighty Macs, 13-7

Reading, Pa (February 25, 2025) - Alvernia University (1-1) fell to Immaculata University (2-1) 13-7, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup at Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves and the Mighty Macs were locked at three heading into the halftime break but Immaculata came out and ripped off eight goals in the third quarter and then two in the fourth en route to the 13-7 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

How it Happened 
  • The Golden Wolves got on the board first after a quick goal by Jack Keenan thanks to an assist from Zackary Moats gave Alvernia a 1-0 lead after the first minute of action. 
  • James Sparacio then netted an unassisted goal with under seven to play in the first quarter to push the Alvernia lead to 2-0. 
  • Immaculata responded with two goals in the next three minutes of action after Nicholas DeFilippo and Ben Weslowski found the back of the net to level the score at two after the first 15 minutes of action. 
  • The Golden Wolves grabbed the lead back in just a minute and a half into the second quarter after Moats assisted Sparacio on a man-up opportunity to give Alvernia the 3-2 lead early in the second. 
  • Immaculata's Ryan Gorman tallied a goal with six minutes to go in the first half to tie the game at three and send it into the halftime break tied. 
  • The Mighty Macs then came out of the halftime break and broke it open. Immaculata would then record eight straight goals in the third quarter and swing the lead in its favor, 11-3.
  • Alvernia grabbed one back in the final two minutes of the third quarter after Keenan assisted Charles Oberman but Immaculata still held a seven goal, 11-4 lead. 
  • Immaculata came out of the quarter break and tallied two goals in the first seven minutes of the game to push the lead to nine, 13-4. 
  • Alvernia added three more goals in the final six minutes of action with Kyle Moats, Sparacio and Oberman all finding the back of the net but it was not enough as Immaculata secured the 13-7 victory. 

Inside the Box Score
  • James Sparacio led the way offensively for Alvernia with four points off three goals and an assist. Sparacio recorded six shots on goal and picked up five ground balls. 
  • Zackary Moats followed with three assists and caused two turnovers. 
  • Charles Oberman and Jack Keenan both added two points with Oberman netting two goals and Keenan recording a goal and an assist. Keenan also picked up four ground balls. 
  • Jack Kenney recorded 20 faceoff wins for the Golden Wolves and picked up a career high 15 ground balls. 
  • Dane Sabarese recorded 14 saves in net and picked up five ground balls.

  • Alvernia is back in action on Saturday when they travel down to Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia to take on the Wildcats in a non-conference matchup at 1:00 PM.
