Golden Wolves Run by Wildcats, 17-2

Lynchburg, Va. (March 1, 2025) - Alvernia University (2-1) recorded a ten goal second half en route to a 17-2 victory over Randolph College (0-2) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Randolph. 

The Golden Wolves held the Wildcats scoreless in the first half and took a 7-0 lead into the halftime break. Alvernia then netted five goals in the third and fourth quarters to secure the 17-2 victory. 

How it Happened 
  • Alvernia grabbed an early 2-0 lead after Colin McFadyen and James Sparacio netted goals in the first five minutes of the game. 
  • Alvernia's Jack Keenan then made it 3-0 in the final six minutes of the quarter as the Golden Wolves held a three goal lead after the first 15 minutes. 
  • Alvernia recorded four goals in the second quarter with all four of them coming in the final six minutes of the half. Keenan started things off thanks to an assist from Peter Capasso, Zackary Moats then assisted his brother, Kyle Moats to make it 6-0. Zackary Moats then found the back of the net with under two minutes to play in the half and McFadyen capped off the four goal quarter with an unassisted goal in the final 20 seconds to give the Golden Wolves a 7-0 lead at the half. 
  • Alvernia's Dane Sabarese recorded five saves in the first half to shut the Wildcats out in the first 30 minutes. 
  • Alvernia made it 8-0 in the first two minutes of the third quarter after Zackary Moats netted his second goal of the game. 
  • Randolph got on the board just ten seconds later to make it an 8-1 game but the Golden Wolves responded with four more goals in the final 12 minutes of the quarter to take a 12-1 lead into the fourth. Charles Oberman and Ethan McManus both netted goals and Sparacio tallied two. 
  • The Golden Wolves then outscored the Wildcats 5-1 in the fourth quarter to secure the 17-2 victory. McFadyen netted a fourth quarter hat trick, Sparacio recorded his fourth of the game and Oberman rounded out the scorers for the Golden Wolves.
