Grantham, Pa (February 28, 2025) - Eight of Alvernia University's men's wrestlers advanced to day two of the NCAA Region 3 Regional with six of them advancing to the semifinals in their respective weight classes Friday at Messiah's Hitchcock Arena. 

The Golden Wolves are in third place in the team standings with 79.5 total points. TCNJ leads the team race with 95.5 points and Messiah is in second with 80.5. 

Alvernia's Keito Shaw, Chance Babb, Jason Rezac, Matthew Lackman, Nathan Lackman and Mauro Pellot-Vazquez all posted 2-0 records on the day and advanced to the semifinal matches in their respective weight classes. Both Garrett Gehr and Hayden McLellan suffered losses in the quarterfinals but bounced back with victories in the consolation brackets to advance to day two of the regional. 

How it Happened 

• Keito Shaw, who is the #3 ranked 125 pounder in Region 3 recorded a 2-0 record on the day and advanced into the semifinal bout. Shaw tallied a 16-1 tech fall over PSU Altoona's Ethan Davis and then punched his ticket to the semis with a 9-1 major decision over Franco Mazza from Ursinus. 
• Chance Babb is headed to the 149 pound semifinals after a 2-0 performance on day one of the regional. Babb recorded a 13-7 major decision over NYU's Vincenzo Napolitana in his opening bout and then took down Charlie Robson from Del Val by tech fall, 18-3 to head to the semifinals. 
• Jason Rezac advanced to day two of the regional after back to back victories by fall in the 157 pound bracket. Rezac took down Bret Murphy from King's by fall in 2:08 and then pinned Fritz Maurath from Johns Hopkins in just 47 seconds in the quarterfinals. 
• Matthew Lackman also went 2-0 on the day and advanced to the semifinals in the 165 pound bracket. Lackman recorded a 15-0 tech fall over Andre Allen from McDaniel and then posted a 8-0 major decision over Johns Hopkins' Chris Roybal to advance to the semifinal. 
• Nathan Lackman also advanced to the semifinal in the 174 pound bracket with a 2-0 record on the day. Lackman recorded back to back 20 point tech falls en route to the semis. Lackman took down Kobe Moore of Gettysburg, 21-6 in his first bout and then recorded a 20-3 tech fall over Luke Moore in the quarterfinals. 
• Mauro Pellot-Vazquez was the final Golden Wolf to go 2-0 on day one of the regional and started his day with a 20-4 tech fall over Brey Loving from Marymount. Pellot-Vazquez then grabbed a 9-7 decision over Andrew Franklin from Muhlenberg to advance to the semifinals. 
• Garrett Gehr tallied a 2-1 record for the Golden Wolves in the 141 pound bracket and advanced to the consi-quarterfinals. Gehr started his day with an 18-3 tech fall over Orion Newell from Scranton but then fell to Sean O'Toole from Del Val in the quarterfinals to drop to the consolation bracket. Gehr then won his third match by tech fall, 20-2, over Kruz McCusker from Misericordia to advance to the consi-quarterfinals. 
• Hayden McLellan rounded out the Golden Wolves advancing to day two of the regional with a 2-1 record on the day. McLellan started his day by pinning Rylan Moose from Marymount but then dropped the quarterfinal match to Trent Furman from NYU to drop to the consolation bracket. McLellan then bounced back with a 19-4 tech fall over Jack Wendel from York to stay alive in the regional.
