Grantham, Pa (March 1, 2025) - Six Alvernia University Men's Wrestlers recorded top three finishes at the Region 3 Regional to advance to the 2025 DIII Men's Wrestling National Championships Saturday afternoon at Messiah. 

Keito Shaw, Matthew Lackman and Mauro Pellot-Vazquez all recorded first place finishes in their respective weight classes to advance to nationals. Jason Rezac and Nathan Lackman both tallied second place finishes and Chance Babb won his third place match to punch his ticket back to the championships. 

The Golden Wolves finished in second place in the team title race for the third time in four years. TCNJ took home the team title with 174.5 points, Alvernia followed with 137.5 and Messiah finished in third with 128.5 points. 

How it Happened 

• Keito Shaw started his day in the semifinal bout of the 125 pound bracket and recorded a pin over Alex Dufour from McDaniel to advance to the title bout. Shaw then squeaked out a close, 4-3 decision over TCNJ's Matt Griffin to punch his ticket to nationals for the first time and secure his first regional title. 
• Matthew Lackman grabbed his fourth 165 pound regional title with a 3-1 decision over TCNJ's Nicholas Sacco to advance to his fourth straight national championships. 
• Mauro Pellot-Vazquez was the final Golden Wolves to record a championship in his weight class with a first place finish in the 285 pound bracket. Pellot-Vazquez recorded a 13-10 decision over Reid Garrison from the Merchant Marines in the title bout to head back to the national championships. 
• Jason Rezac dropped his championship bout to NYU's Cooper Pontelandolfo by major decision, 17-8. Rezac still advances to the national championships with his second place finish and will be heading to nationals for the third straight year. 
• Nathan Lackman also finished in second place in the 174 pound weight class and dropped the title bout to Hunter Mays from TCNJ by sudden victory, 4-1. Lackman will be heading back to his third national championship. 
• Chance Babb was the final Golden Wolf to punch his ticket to the national championships with a third place finish in the 149 pound bracket. Babb dropped the semifinal to Michael Conkin by major decision, 8-0. Babb the bounced back with a 13-2 major decision over Michael Williams from Misericordia and then recorded a 4-1 sudden victory over Ethan Composto in the third place match to head back to the championships.
