Reading, Pa. (March 19, 2025) - Alvernia University (5-1) put on an offensive clinic while holding Wilkes University (2-6) scoreless in the second half as the Golden Wolves took the 18-5 win on Wednesday night in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

Alvernia was down 2-0 early before using a 5-0 run to take the lead. Alvernia then added six more goals in the second half while holding Wilkes scoreless in the final 30 minutes of action for the 18-5 win.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia trailed 2-0 through the first two minutes of action. But, a goal from Zackary Moats opened the scoring for Alvernia 2:45 into the game. Moats' goal opened the floodgates for Alvernia and the Golden Wolves put up five goals over the next six and a half minutes. James Sparacio, Jack Keenan, and Charles Oberman scored for the Golden Wolves to give Alvernia the 5-2 lead with 5:51 to play in the first.
  • Wilkes scored a goal with 4:28 to play in the first quarter to put an end to the Alvernia run, but Alvernia had the final say of the quarter on a Sparacio goal off the assist of Peter Cappaso.
  • Wilkes opened the scoring on an unassisted goal two and a half minutes into the second quarter, bringing the Colonels back within two. But, a man-up goal from Oberman gave Alvernia back the three goal lead and sparked a 6-1 run for Alvernia to close out the first half. Keenan scored twice during the run, Oberman had two, and Colin McFadyen and Kyle Moats scored the final two goals. Both McFadyen and Moats scored in the final minute of the quarter to give Alvernia the 12-5 lead going into the break.
  • The Golden Wolves held the Colonels scoreless the rest of the way. Alvernia added two more goals in the second quarter off the shots of Ethan McManus and Sparacio to take a 14-5 lead into the final frame.
  • Sparacio opened the fourth with a goal two and a half minutes into the quarter to make it a ten-goal game, 15-5. Alvernia scored three more in the final 10 minutes - with Sparacio scoring with ten minutes to play. Sparacio then assisted on a McFadyen goal before scoring the final goal of the game himself.
