How it Happened

  • The Knights took an early 2-0 lead through the first four and a half minutes of action. But, Alvernia got on the board just 16 seconds after Neumann's goal as Charles Oberman found the back of the net.
  • Oberman's goal sparked a 4-0 run for Alvernia that the Golden Wolves used to take the lead, 4-2. Oberman added a second during the run, and James Sparacio netted two of his own as Alvernia took the 4-2 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Golden Wolves kept it rolling to open the second quarter as Sparacio recorded the early hat-trick to give the Golden Wolves the 5-2 lead just under a minute into the quarter.
  • Neumann got one back on a man-up goal, but Alvernia extended its lead to back up three, 6-3, on a man-up goal by Oberman to mark his third of the afternoon. But, the Knights answered back with two goals in under a minute to cut it down to a one goal game, 6-5. Alvernia got a little breathing room to close out the half as Sparacio recorded his fourth of the afternoon on a man-up opportunity.
  • Alvernia opened the third quarter with a man-down goal from Zackary Moats, but Neumann got back within two once again with a goal three minutes later.
  • Back-to-back goals from Peter Capasso and Oberman again gave Alvernia some breathing room with ten minutes to play, but Neumann once again answered with two goals to keep it a two goal game, 10-8, with 3:41 to play in the quarter.
  • Alvernia closed out the quarter with goals from Sparacio and Moats, and opened up the fourth quarter with Colin McFadyen and Zackary Moats finding the back of the net to give Alvernia the 14-8 lead with 8:08 to play.
  • The Knights held Alvernia scoreless the rest of the way and began to threaten Alvernia's lead. The Knights scored with 5:16 to play to get within five, 14-9, and then scored three more over the next three minutes to get within two, 14-12, with 2:17 to play.
