Weather Suspends Game, Golden Wolves and Pride Tied 3-3 in the Top of the 13th Inning

BOX SCORE Reading, Pa (March 28, 2025) - Alvernia University (10-10, 3-3) and Widener University (13-9, 5-1) were tied 3-3 in the top of the 13th inning when the game was suspended due to weather in game one of a MAC Commonwealth baseball series Friday evening in Angelica Park.

The game will be resumed tomorrow at Widener prior to the scheduled doubleheader. The two games of the doubleheader will now become two seven inning games.

Alvernia was down 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning until the three hole hitter Logan Nelson jacked a game tying, two run bomb over the left field fence to tie the game at three in the eighth.

How it Happened
  • After two scoreless innings, the Golden Wolves got on the board first in the home half of the third inning after Logan Nelson ripped a ground ball to the third baseman, he then tried to tag an Alvernia base runner but missed, allowing Nelson to reach and Mike Pulcini to score and give the Golden Wolves the 1-0 lead.
  • The Pride leveled the score in the top of the fifth inning after Jack Balcer pulled a solo homer down the left field line to tie the game at one.
  • Widener grabbed the lead in the top of the seventh inning after a bases loaded wild pitch allowed a run to score and give the Pride the 2-1 advantage.
  • The Pride extended the lead to 3-1 after an RBI single down the left field line plated another run and pushed their lead to two in the top of the eighth.
  • The Golden Wolves knotted it up at three in the bottom of the eighth after Nelson smoked a game tying, two run bomb into the Alvernia bullpen and sent it to the top of the ninth locked at three.
  • Both the Golden Wolves and the Pride were unable to score in the next four innings before the game was suspended in the top of the 13th.
