Martinez Opens Season with Program-Record Performance

Media, Pa. (Aug. 30, 2025) - Alvernia University junior Sam Martinez opened the 2025 season with a bang as he broke the 5K program record on Saturday morning at the Bryn Mawr Invitational at Rose Tree Country Park in Media, Pa.

Martinez ran the 5K course in 17:04.90, bettering the program record set by Anthony Roselli at the Baltimore Metro Meet in 2022. Martinez took 13th place overall with his performance.

Ryan Dennison finished in second for Alvernia and 16th overall with a personal-record time of 17:28.50. Dennison smashed his previous 5K PR by nearly 90 seconds.

Spencer Hahn finished in third for Alvernia and took 21st overall with a time of 17:58.70, and Younes Naimi took 39th overall with a time of 19:37.80.

Immaculata's Samuel Domencic took first place in the field of 78 with a time of 16:35.90.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday, September 13th at the Kutztown University DII/DIII Challenge.
