Williams Takes Second, Alvernia Third at Moravian

Bethlehem, Pa. (Sep. 15, 2025) - Alvernia Men's Golf senior Shawn Williams took second place with a score of 2-over 74 and paced Alvernia to a third place finish on Monday at the Moravian Weyhill Classic, hosted at the Saucon Valley Weyhill Course.

Williams finished in a tie for second with a score of 2-over 74. He paced Alvernia to a team score of 317 as the Golden Wolves tied for third with the B-squad of Albright. Albright's A-squad took first with a team score of 308, and Albright's Nontaphat Veeratecha took low-medalist honors with a score of 3-under 69.

Shawn Williams posted an even 36 on the back nine. He started his day on the 587-yard par 5 sixth with a par, and closed out the early part of the front nine with three more pars to make the turn at even par. Williams gave one back on the 10th before stringing together six more pars. He then moved back to even with a birdie on the par four 17th. He added his seventh par on the 18th before returning to the front nine. Williams played his final stretch of holes at 2-over for his round of 74.

First-year Zachary Neuin finished second for Alvernia and in T-9th overall with a 7-over 79. Neuin started his day with a four on the par four 8th, and quickly moved to 1-under with a birdie on the par five 9th. After three straight pars, Neuin moved back to even with a bogey on the 13th. He remained at through the par three 16th, but made the turn back to the front nine at 3-over. He went another 3-over through the first three holes of the front before righting things with a par on the par four 4th. He gave one more stroke back on the sixth to finish his day at 7-over 79.

Matthew Gagliardi finished in third for Alvernia and t-14th over with a 9-over 81. Gagliardi finished his day with 11 pars - including five straight on the front nine. His round was highlighted by a birdie on a par four 1st hole. 

Rounding out Alverina's counting scores was Chase Smith with a t-21st round of 11-over 83. Smith had a nearly clean card on the front nine - posting pars on the second through ninth holes. He added four more pars on the back nine for 12 total on the day.

Kenton Lightburn played as Alvernia's fifth and posted a 15-over 87 for t-29th. Lightburn finished the day with eight pars, including five on the back nine.

Alvernia is back in action on Sunday, October 5th for day one of the Golden Oaks Shootout.
