Golden Wolves Head to Misericordia to Take on Cougars

Dallas, Pa. (Sep. 26, 2025) - Alvernia Football will make the road trip up to Dallas, Pennsylvania on Saturday to take on the Cougars of Misericordia in a MAC Football match-up. 

Saturday will mark the fifth meeting between the two programs. Misericordia holds the series lead, 3-1. But, Alvernia came out in the win column in the last matchup between the schools as the Golden Wolves secured a 34-31 win in the 2024 season finale.

Misericordia enters Saturday with a 2-1 record and are 2-0 in MAC play. Misiercordia dropped its season-opener to Endicott College before opening MAC play with back-to-back wins against Albright and Widener. The Cougars are averaging 28 points per game and holding opponents to 19.7 points per game. Misericordia is ranked fourth in the MAC in both points scored per game and points allowed per game.

Offensively, the Cougars favor the run-game slightly more than the pass. Misericordia is averaging 182.7 yards per game rushing and 169 yards per game passing. Defensively, Misericordia has been sound at stopping the run and are holding opponents to 97.7 yards rushing per game. Opponents have found a bit more success in the air against the Cougars, throwing for an average of 198.33 yards. As a whole, Misericordia is averaging 351.7 yards per game, which ranks the Cougars fifth in the MAC. Defensively, Misericordia is ranked third in the MAC in yards allowed per game at 296.0.

Alvernia enters Saturday in search of its first win of the season. The Golden Wolves are coming off a 35-13 loss to Stevenson on Saturday. Alvernia is averaging 14.7 points per game and is allowing an average of 33.3 points per game. Alvernia is ranked ninth in the MAC in points scored per game, and is in 10th in points allowed per game.

On the offensive side of things, Alvernia runs the ball slightly more than it passes the ball, but the Golden Wolves have found more total success in the air than on the ground. The Golden Wolves are averaging 156.33 passing yards per game in comparison to 121 rushing yards per game. Defensively, Alvernia allows an average of 245.3 rushing yards per game and 136 passing yards per game. Alvernia enters Saturday tied for a MAC-high four interceptions. But, the Golden Wolves join Misericordia with both programs in search of its first fumble and first fumble recovery.
