BOX SCORE St. Davids, Pa. (October 29, 2026) — Alvernia women's volleyball (10-13, 3-4 MAC) dropped a tightly contested MAC bout to Eastern (13-9, 7-0 MAC) on Thursday night at Eastern.
The Golden Wolves delivered two close sets to the Eagles, who have yet to be defeated in MAC Commonwealth play. They clawed back and pushed the Eagles into extra points in the final set.
How It Happened:
- Points were exchanged back and forth throughout the duration of the first set, with a total of just two lead changes but a stalemate at 12-12 through 24 points. The Eagles ripped off a 6-1 run with things knotted at 17 apiece, which left them with just two more points to secure. Despite Alvernia's best effort to tie things back up, the Eagles took set one, 25-23.
- Set two had the makings of an Alvernia-dominated set when they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. The Eagles quickly erased the lead with six consecutive points to battle back to a 6-2 lead over the Golden Wolves. With the Golden Wolves just one point away from the Eagles, trailing 8-7, the Eagles sparked a 10-1 run to take a commanding 18-8 lead over the Golden Wolves. Eastern closed out set two with a 25-10 win, now leading 2-0.
- The final set featured a quick 4-1 run in favor of the Golden Wolves, with a service ace from Allison Wolf and a kill from Casey Treude. Both teams exchanged service errors, ultimately reaching a stalemate at 10-10. A series of five lead changes from that point would see the Golden Wolves trailing 20-19, with the Eagles needing just five points to secure the sweep.
