Graham, Golden Wolves Shutout Mustangs, 2-0

Reierstown, Md. (February 13, 2026) - Alvernia University (14-9-0, 12-7-0) recorded a 2-0 shutout victory over Stevenson University (14-8-1, 13-5-1) Friday night in a MAC men's ice hockey tilt at the Reierstown SportsPlex.

Alvernia's Charles Becnel netted the opening goal just three minutes into the second period thanks to an assist from captain Sawyer Senio to put the Golden Wolves up one. Anthony Piccininno then sealed the deal for the Golden Wolves after he buried an empty net goal with 50 seconds to play to secure the 2-0 victory for Alvernia.

The win marks the 14th win on the season for the Golden Wolves which sets a new program record for wins in a season. The Golden Wolves tallied 13 wins back in 2023-2024. The victory also means that Alvernia has clinched a playoff spot in the MAC men's ice hockey playoffs for the second straight season.

How it Happened
  • The Mustangs controlled the offensive zone in the first period and absolutely peppered the Golden Wolves goal. Stevenson recorded 23 total shot attempts with 19 going on goal but Alvernia's Connor Graham stood tall between the pipes and saved all 19 shots that went on goal to send the game into the first intermission tied at zero.
  • The Golden Wolves then struck first in the first three minutes of the second half after Sawyer Senio assisted Charles Becnel who buried the puck into the back of the net and gave Alvernia a one goal advantage early in the second frame.
  • Stevenson would continue to attack the Alvernia goal and sent 13 shots on goal but Graham held strong for yet another period and denied all 13 shots to send the Golden Wolves into the room with a 1-0 lead and 20 minutes to play.
  • The Mustangs rattled off 14 more shots on goal in the third period but Alvernia kept them out again and Anthony Piccininno found the back of the net on an empty net opportunity to secure the 2-0 shutout victory for the Golden Wolves.
