Williams, Alvernia Take First at LedgeRock

Mohnton, Pa. (March 31, 2026) - Alvernia Men's Golf opened up its spring season with a first place finish at home on Tuesday behind a low-medalist performance by Shawn Williams to lead the Golden Wolves at LedgeRock golf club.

Both Alvernia's A and B teams posted scores of 311 to tie for first place. Alvernia's A team took home the trophy behind a fifth place tiebreaker score from Zach Neuin. Shawn Williams led Alvernia's A squad with a round of 1-under 71 to secure low medalist honors to open the spring season.

Alvernia's A was a team composed of Shawn Williams, Matthew Overholt, Chase Smith, Matthew Gagliardi, and Zach Neuin. Alvernia's B squad was made up of Jacob DeWitt, Brock Mueller, Kenton Lightburn, Jakob Chapman, and Matt Davies. Evan Beitler played as an individual for Alvernia.

Shawn Williams started his day with a birdie on the par four 1st hole. He was at even through six and and 1-over through seven. He closed out his back nine with back-to-back birdies to make the turn at 1-under. Williams gave a stroke back on the 14th before closing out his day with a birdie on the 18th to finish at 1-under. Williams finished his day with 11 pars and four birdies.

Jacob DeWitt finished in second overall and in second for Alvernia to lead the B squad with a round of 1-over 73. DeWitt opened his day with a bogey on the fifth before moving to 1-under with back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes. He moved back to even with a bogey on the 12th before another pair of back-to-back birdies put him back at 1-under. DeWitt finished his day with a round of 73 with four birdies and nine pars.

Kenton Lightburn finished tied for 3rd overall with a round of 76. His day was highlighted by a 1-under performance on the front nine with two birdies and six pars. He finished his day with ten pars and two birdies in total for a round of 76.

Both Matthew Overholt and Chase Smith finished in a tie for fifth overall with rounds of 78. Overholt posted a back nine score of 36 that saw him string together three birdies over four holes on 10 through 13. He finished his day with those three birdies and eight pars. Smith posted a front nine score of 38 and a back nine 40. He finished the day with ten pars and a birdie on the 1st.

Jakob Chapman rounded out Alvernia's top-ten performances. Chapman posted a round of 79 to finish tied for seventh overall. Chapman strung together three straight birdies on the 18, 1, and 2 to highlight his day. He also finished with seven pars along with those three birdies.


Matt Davies finished t-16th with a round of 83 with seven pars and a birdie, and Matt Gagliardi finished in t-18 with a round of 84. Gagliardi carded eight pars and two birdies on his day. Zach Neuin finished in 25th with a round of 87, and Brock Muller finished t-26 with a round of 88. Neuin carded seven pars and a birdie, and Mueller finished four pars and a birdie. Evan Beitler finished in 33rd with a round of 99.

Alvernia is back in action on Thursday at Hershey Country Club for the Elizabethtown Invitational.
