Play Suspended in Round One of the MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf Championships

Fleetwood, Pa. (April 25, 2026) - Alvernia University competed in a rain shortened round one of the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Men's Golf Championships at Golden Oaks Golf Club on Saturday. 

Alvernia was in the final wave of tee times alongside Hood and Eastern and were the three teams that were unable to complete the first round of the championships due to course conditions. 

Alvernia, Hood and Eastern will resume play tomorrow at 8:00 AM and complete round one before the championship will tee back off at 11:00 AM for round two of the tournament. 

Chase Smith leads the Golden Wolves and is five over par for the championship before play was suspended. Smith also carded a 38 on the front nine and after a double and a bogey in his first four holes, Smith rattled off four pars and a birdie at the eighth to finish the front nine two over. Smith will resume his round on the par four 16th hole on Sunday and is currently in a tie for seventh. 

Zachary Neuin posted a three over 39 on the front nine and carded four pars and birdies at the fifth and the seventh holes en route to the front nine 39. Neuin also carded a par at the 12th hole and is currently nine over par in round one and will resume his round on the par five 18th tomorrow and is currently in a tie for 14th place. 

Jacob DeWitt is currently ten over par in round one of the championship. DeWitt was one of three Golden Wolves to go two over par on the front nine and post a 38. DeWitt carded five pars and birdied the par four seventh en route to the 38 on the front nine. DeWitt will resume his round on the par three 15th hole on Sunday and is currently in a tie for 17th place. 

Matthew Overholt is currently 11 over par through round one of the championship after play was suspended. Overholt posted a two over 38 on the front nine and carded a birdie at the par five fourth hole. Overholt will resume his round on the par four 17th tomorrow morning and is currently in a tie for 19th place. 

Shawn Williams is 11 over par through 17 holes at the championship before play was suspended. Williams carded a 42 on the front nine and is five over on the back nine heading into the final hole. Williams will resume his round on the par five 18th on Sunday and is currently in a tie for 19th place. 

Alvernia tees off on Sunday at 8:00 AM to conclude its first round of the championship before heading back out for round two later in the morning. Tee times for round two will not be set until round one finishes, but the round two tee times will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
