Allentown, PA (Oct. 12, 2005) – Junior forward Becky Macchione (Richland, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored three goals and added an assist to lead Alvernia College to a 7-0 win over Cedar Crest College Wednesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at Cedar Crest.

            Alvernia junior Jessie Titus (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) opened the scoring nine minutes into the game with an unassisted goals and following two from Macchione, the Crusaders (10-3, 8-1 PAC) were up 3-0 with just under 20 minutes gone by.  Macchione added her assist on the Crusaders next goal, the 14th of the year for junior Megan Novogratz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic), who is now one behind Macchione for the team lead, and Melissa Senick (Reading, PA/Central Catholic) closed the first-half scoring with her third tally of the season.

            Freshman Kelly Flynn (Byram, NJ/Lenape Valley Regional) scored her first career goal, assisted by Novogratz early in the second half and Macchione completed the hat trick scoring her 15th goal of the season with 16:58 left to play.

            All three Alvernia keepers saw time with senior Carey Manzolillo (Bernville, PA/Governor Mifflin), the PAC Field Hockey Player of the Week, getting her 10th win of the season.

            Alvernia will host Arcadia University this Saturday at 1:00 in PAC action.
