Reading, PA (Oct. 15, 2005) – Junior Becky Macchione (Richland, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored three goals for the second straight game to lead Alvernia College to a 4-1 win over Arcadia University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Alvernia.

            Macchione scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first half, to lead the Crusaders (11-3, 9-1 PAC) to a 3-0 lead at the break.  Junior Megan Novogratz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) tallied her 15th goal of the season just over 10 minutes into the second half, and Arcadia freshman Christy Miller (Alburtis, PA/Brandywine) scored her 10th goal of the season in the 58th minute to spoil the shutout.

            Macchione, who has a team-high 18 goals this season, tallied three goals in a 7-0 win over Cedar Crest on Wednesday after the Crusaders had eight days off between games due to heavy rains this past week.  The Crusaders will host a pair of non-conference games next week to tune up for Eastern Universtiy on Monday, Oct. 24, in a game that should decide the top seed for the PAC playoffs.
