CAMDEN – The Alvernia College women’s volleyball team received 11 digs, six assists an d one kill from freshman Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) and added 20 assists, three digs and two kills from freshman Jennifer Stigura (Barto, PAZ/Central Catholic) as it swept Rutgers-Camden, 30-20, 30-26 and 30-15, in a non-conference match here Saturday.
The Crusaders improve to 7-8 with their second straight win. Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-10.
Senior Amy Werley (Fleetwood, PA/Brandywine Heights) added 10 kills for Alvernia, while sophomore teammate Natalie Minnich (Tower City, PA/Williams Valley) added four solo blocks, one assisted block, one kill and two assists. Senior Trish O’Gurek (Summit Hill, PA/Panther Valley) notched nine kills and two digs, while senior Laura Wilson (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) had eight kills, one dig and one assist.
For Rutgers-Camden, sophomore outside hitter Julie Grochowski (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) collected 15 kills and 18 digs, while junior outside hitter Karla Maisto (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) had four kills, three aces and 15 digs. Freshman setter Nikki Cosico (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) added four kills, 27 assists and seven digs and sophomore outside hitter Bianca Skvirsky (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) notched 11 kills and nine digs.
The Crusaders host Marywood University at 7 p.m. Monday.
