Gwynedd Valley, PA (Oct. 4, 2005) – Senior goalie Carey Manzolilo (Bernville, PA/Governor Mifflin) made nine saves, eight in the second half, to lead Alvernia College to a 2-0 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at GMC.

            Alvernia sophomore Lauren Yoder (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) opened the scoring in the 30th minute assisted by Jessie Titus (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and junior Megan Novogratz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) tallied her 13th goal of the season two minutes later to give Alvernia (9-3, 7-1 PAC) a 2-0 cushion at the break.  Novogratz moved one goal ahead of teammate Becky Macchione (Richland, PA/Conrad Weiser) for the outright lead in goals in the PAC.

            Alvernia is scheduled to visit Eastern University this Saturday at noon for an important PAC match with the Eagles.
