Crusaders Fall 7-4 with Promising Effort in Hershey

Shippensburg, PA (Nov. 5, 2005) - Playing in the Hershey Arena gave Alvernia a taste for big time hockey.  The team battled injury and penalties against a formidable Shippensburg University squad.

Playing a fast paced scoreless first period surprised the hosting Red Raiders.  Shippensburg tallied the games first goal midway through the second period, this proved double costly when goaltender Chris Medico and defensive standout Brent Reed fell to injury.  The Crusaders outplayed Shippensburg in the final period with freshman Bruce Hawthorne and Michael Gilmore each finding the twine. Team leading goal scorer Ryan Kelly netted two goals in the loss.
