Crusaders Fall 54-69 in Season Opener

Lauren Fortna Leads Crusaders with 19 Points

Grantham, PA (Nov. 18, 2005) - Lauren Fortna (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon Catholic) paced the Crusaders with 19 points, and Mandy Reinhart (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) added ten as the Crusaders lost their 53-68 season opener to Ursinus College in the opening round of the Messiah Tournament.
Alvernia was behind 23-29 at the half to an Ursinus squad that saw three players score in double figures, with Mary Kate Daley leading all scorers with 23 on the day. Alvernia who finished with a shooting percentage of 40.9% from the field was outshot by Ursinus who hit 29 out of 64 good for 45.3%.
The Crusaders move on to face Grove City College in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Messiah College. Grove City fell to Messiah in first round play 42-90.
