Crusaders Top DeSales 8-5 For First Win

Reading, PA (Nov. 19, 2005) - Offensive fire power led the way as Alvernia outmatched DeSales University to notch an elusive first victory.  'The Vern' would not be denied after taking an early 4-0 lead midway through the opening period.

Freshman center, Bruce Hawthorne created numerous scoring chances and found the back of the net twice while dishing off two assists for a four point night.  Alvernia kept a comfortable three goal margin for the remainder of game, however untimely penalties handcuffed a potent offense.  Standout performances included freshman defenseman Michael Gilmore who joining the offensive party with two goals.  Chris Pratt had the defining goal of the evening taking advantage of the disadvantage with yet another short handed delivery midway through a 5 on 3 penalty kill.  Pratt has successfully converted three shorthanded goals this season with speed and great timing.  Alvernia’s first line of  Pratt, Hawthorne and Bill Heller continued to generate offense with a five goal output.
