Reading, PA (Nov. 28, 2005) – Senior guard Chris Talley (Royersford, PA/Spring Ford) hit three 3s and racked up a team-high 20 points to lead Alvernia College to an 83-54 win over Immaculata University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men’s basketball action Monday evening at the Physical Education Center.

            Talley scored half of his 20 in the first half as the Crusaders (3-1, 1-0 PAC) built a 42-28 lead at the break and never looked back.  Sophomore Damon Bogan (Oxford, PA/Oxford) scored 18 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of play.  Immaculata sophomore Reggie Strickland (Philadelphia, PA/Central) scored a game-high 23 points.

            Immaculata nailed the first bucket of the night, a 3 from Julius Lopez (Linfield, NJ/Spring Ford), and the guests had a two point edge, 14-12 with 14:21 left in the first half.  Talley nailed a 3 to put the Crusaders up one and Alvernia closed out a 19-4 run on a Bogan jumper at the 7:07 mark to take a 13-point lead.  Immaculata cut the lead back down to seven on two occasions, but Alvernia scored the final seven points of the half and enjoyed the biggest lead of the first at the break, a 14-point gap, 42-28.

            The lead grew to 25 points on five straight points from Talley with 14:19 left to play and reached its maximum, 32 points on a Garrett Etzel (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) jumper in the final 1:30.

            Alvernia will travel to College Misericordia for a men’s and women’s doubleheader on Wednesday.
