Alvernia Struggles Late in 7-2 Loss

Reading, PA (Dec.3, 2005) - The Crusaders were ignited by first period power play goals, and may have shocked a well-seasoned East Stroudsburg University team.  Early tallies by freshman Bruce Hawthorne and Michael Gilmore once again showed the promise of an exciting future in Alvernia Ice Hockey.

The early lead would hold for nearly two periods, but experience and depth would persevere for ESU.  East Stroudsburg scored five unanswered goals in the final period, to close out any hopes of a Crusader upset.  Goaltender Chris Medico played brilliant in the first period keeping ESU scoreless.  Medico recorded 39 saves after 46 shots; “Chris turned away many quality scoring opportunities and managed to frustrate a potent offense for the better part of the game,” noted Coach O’Connell.  Chris Pratt continued his point streak assisting on both Alvernia goals.
