Reading, PA (Sept. 15, 2005) – Alvernia College overcame a sloppy opener to defeat Albright College, 3-1, Thursday evening in non-conference women’s volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.  Sophomore #Amy Sikorski# (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) had 17 kills to lead the team and freshman setter #Caitlin Celia# (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) collected 37 assists.

            The Crusaders (5-3) managed just eight kills in the opening game with as many errors in 48 attempts as Albright (3-8) stole the first game, 30-28.  The error numbers dropped significantly with just seven miscues the rest of the way to go with 44 kills as Alvernia ran off wins in games two through four, 30-14, 30-22, 30-16.

            Freshman libero #Lauren Crimi# (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) had a team-high 23 digs to lead five Crusaders in that category.  Alvernia will travel to Swarthmore College for a one-day tournament this Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m.
