Stewart’s 75 Leads Alvernia To 326, Ninth Of 18

Freshman Goes 1-Under On Front Nine At Bent Creek

Lancaster, PA (Sept. 19, 2005) – Freshman Derek Stewart (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) shot a 4-over 75 to lead Alvernia College to a 326 team total and ninth place out of 18 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Fall Invitational Monday afternoon at Bent Creek Golf Course.

            Stewart, who started on the par 4 seventh, opened his day with a birdie, made his second birdie on the 136-yard par 3 13th, and knocked in a 2-foot birdie on his final hole of the day to wrap up a 1-under 34 on the front side.  Fellow freshman George Van Horn (Bernville, PA/The Hill School) shot 10-over 81, sophomore Steve Gerhart (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) finished at 83, and senior Jeff Sadowski (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) carded an 87.

            Alvernia will travel to Southmore Golf Course on Thursday for the Moravian Fall Invitational.
