Alvernia Falls At Eastern, 3-0

Crimi Collects 26 Digs For Crusaders

St. Davids, PA (Sept. 6, 2005) – The hitting numbers for the 8-time defending conference champion Eastern University women’s volleyball team weren’t off the charts, but 48 kills in 128 attempts was enough to top Alvernia College, 3-0, Tuesday evening in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

            The Eagles tallied 16 kills and seven errors in the opening game en route to a 30-20 win, and hammered out a .405 hitting percentage in a 30-19 game-two win before cruising to the 3-0 win with a 30-23 decision in the final game.

            Alvernia’s defensive effort was led by freshman Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) who collected 26 digs.  Senior Amy Werley (Fleetwood, PA/Brandywine Heights) led the team with seven kills, sophomore Amy Sikorski (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) added six, and freshman setter Caitlin Celia (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) finished with 13 assists.
