Reading, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2006) – Senior goalie Katie Einsel (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) made six saves to record her second shutout of the season as Alvernia College played Cabrini College to a 0-0 tie in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field.

            Alvernia (5-6-2, 3-5-2 PAC) is in a battle with Arcadia University for the sixth and final spot in the conference playoffs.  Alvernia and Arcadia played to a 3-3 tie in late September at Alvernia.  The Scarlet Knights improved to 3-3-2 with a conference win over Cedar Crest on Saturday and will face Neumann and Immaculata to finish out the conference schedule.

            Alvernia played an almost exactly even match with the second place team in the PAC on Saturday.  The Crusaders held a slight 13-12 advantage in shots and the Cavs earned seven corners to Alvernia’s four.  Cabrini caught Alvernia offsides four times and the Cavs were off three times.

            Cabrini keeper Leandra Conti (Media, PA/Strath Haven) made five saves in net for the Cavaliers with five coming after halftime.

            Alvernia will host Goucher College on Monday.
