Alvernia Shuts Out Goucher, 2-0

Einsel Saves Seven For Crusaders

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 16, 2006) – Senior goalie Katie Einsel (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) made seven saves to record her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 Alvernia College win over Goucher College Monday afternoon in non-conference women’s soccer action at Schlager Memorial Field.

            Junior forwards Laura-Beth Diggs (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and Brandi Light (Myerstown, PA/Tulpehocken) scored a goal each for the Crusaders who recorded their third shutout in the past four games.  Both goals were scored unassisted with Diggs tallying her second goal of the season in the 23rd minute and Light posting her team-leading seventh goal in the 65th minute.

            Alvernia held a 14-11 advantage in shots and both keepers totaled seven saves.  Alvernia earned nine corner kicks to Goucher’s three.  The Crusaders will continue the schedule Wednesday hosting Rutgers-Newark at 4:00 p.m.
