Allentown, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2006) – Five different players scored a goal for Alvernia College including junior midfielder Amber Landis (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) whose first goal of the year at 14:48 proved the game-winner as the Crusaders held Moravian College without a shot in a 5-0 win Monday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Moravian.
Sophomore netminder Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine Heights) easily picked up her 12th win of the season without needing a save. Senior Megan Novogratz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic), the PAC Player of the Week, scored her 17th goal of the season and tallied the only assist of the day.
Senior Jessie Titus (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) scored on the Novogratz assist for her 10th goal of the year, Shayna Clark (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) added her eighth, and senior Becky Macchione (Richland, PA/Conrad Weiser) notched her team-leading 19th of the year.
Moravian switched keepers after the Clark goal and totaled 18 saves on the day. Alvernia generated 27 shots and held a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Alvernia improved to 38-4 all-time in games where Macchione and Novogratz score at least one goal each. The Crusaders will travel to Juniata on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
