Avery’s 72 Leads Alvernia To Third At Lebanon Valley

Avery Earns Second Medalist Honor At LVC

Annville, PA (April 3, 2006) – Alvernia College senior Nayson Avery (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) carded two birdies and two bogies for an even par round of 72 to lead the Crusaders to a 320 total and a third place finish at the Lebanon Valley Spring Golf Invitational Monday afternoon at Lebanon Country Club.

Avery earned medalist honors for the second time in the past two years at Lebanon. He shot 3-under 69 to win the 2004 Fall Invitational. Avery bested 101 other golfers from 20 schools finishing one stroke ahead of Neumann’s Mike Marenic.

Alvernia sophomore Steve Gerhart (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) shot 80, freshman Will Tonking (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) shot 83, and sophomore Doug McConnell (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) rounded out the Crusaders’ top four with an 85.

Avery made birdies on the fifth and 10th holes and narrowly missed a birdie on the par 5 15th, his final hole of the day. Tonking and Gerhart also carded a pair of birdies on the day for the Crusaders.
