BOX SCORE

Glenside, PA (April 5, 2006) – Eleven different players tallied goals for Alvernia College in a 20-9 win over Arcadia University Wednesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse action at Arcadia.  Sophomore McKenna Shafer (Delran, NJ/Cinnaminson) led the Crusaders’ attack with four goals and an assist.

Arcadia nabbed a 2-1 lead with nine minutes gone in the first half before the Crusaders scored eight of the next nine goals for a commanding 9-3 lead.  Shafer led the attack with two of her four goals during the stretch.  After an Arcadia goal stopped the run both teams tallied three each in the final 7:25 of the first half and the Crusaders enjoyed a 12-7 lead at halftime.

Alvernia erased any hope of a comeback by the host Knights scoring the first six goals of the second half.  All six goals were scored by different players.

Alvernia freshman Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) made two saves for Alvernia to earn the win.  The Crusaders will continue the conference schedule when they host Wesley College this Friday afternoon.
