Allentown, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2006) – Amy Sikorski (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) hammered out a match-high 24 kills and Jennifer Stigura (Barto, PA/Central Catholic) tallied 20 for Alvernia College in a 3-2 loss to Cedar Crest Thursday evening in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s volleyball action at Lee’s Hall.
Alvernia twice overcame one-game deficits before the host Falcons (3-1, 2-0 PAC) cruised to a 15-5 win in the fifth and deciding game. Alvernia struggled through sub-.200 hitting percentages as a team in all three game losses, and pounded out an impressive .438 hitting percentage with zero hitting errors in a 30-23 win in game two.
Sophomore setter Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) handed out 46 assists and collected a match-best six service aces. Three players reached double figures in digs for the Crusaders (1-4, 0-1 PAC) led by Stigura who totaled 18.
Alvernia will continue the conference schedule at Gwynedd-Mercy Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
