BOX SCORE
Haverford, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2006) – Senior midfielder Zach Naylon (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) scored the lone goal of the game and sophomore goalie Richard Kessler (Reading, PA/Reading) made four saves to lead Alvernia College to a 1-0 win over Haverford College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men’s soccer action at Haverford.
Senior Greg Allegra (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) set up Naylon in the 35th minute for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Allegra carried the ball into the box and found Naylon who buried the only score of the game. Naylon has now scored in four of six games this season. Kessler’s four saves helped the Crusaders (4-1-1) record their third shutout of the season.
Alvernia racked up 21 shots and 10 corner kicks while Haverford mustered 10 and one respectively. All but two Crusader starters recorded at least one shot.
Alvernia will travel to College Misericordia on Saturday for an important conference match with the Cougars.
