BOX SCORE

Dallas, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2006) – Senior midfielder Zach Naylon (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) and sophomore goalie Richard Kessler (Reading, PA/Reading) headlined Alvernia College’s second 1-0 win in a row as the Crusaders defeated College Misericordia 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men’s soccer action at Mangelsdorf Field.

Naylon scored his sixth goal of the season in the 17th minute unassisted and Kessler made three saves to record his third shutout this season.  Naylon has scored in five of Alvernia’s (5-1-1, 2-0 PAC) seven games this season including the last three in a row.  In just over 520 minutes of action, Kessler has made 15 total saves and has a 1.04 goals against average.

Alvernia held its 1-0 lead at halftime and was outshot 7-0 in the second half, but Kessler continually denied the Misericorida offense in its bid to tie.

Alvernia is scheduled to play its eighth straight road game on Monday when the Crusaders visit regional power Richard Stockton for a night game.  Alvernia will open the home schedule on Tuesday hosting Marywood University in a rescheduled game.
