Einsel Makes Eight Saves For Alvernia

Selinsgrove, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2006) – Susquehanna University scored a pair of second-half goals in a 3-0 win over Alvernia College Sunday afternoon in the River Classic Women’s Soccer tournament at Sassafras Field.

            Alvernia senior Katie Einsel (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) made seven of her eight saves in the first half holding the Susquehanna offense, which tallied 13 shots before halftime, to just one goal, but the hosts broke through twice on six second-half shots for the 3-0 win.

            Susquehanna finished with 19 total shots to Alvernia’s three and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Meredith Tompeck needed just one save to record Susquehanna’s (2-0) second shutout of the season.

            Alvernia will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College next Saturday to begin the conference schedule.
