Stewart’s 73 Leads Alvernia To 10th At Hershey

McConnell Shoots 74 With Six Birdies

Hershey, Pa. (Sept. 6, 2006) – Sophomore Derek Stewart (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) made three birdies and five bogeys to shoot 2-over 73 at Hershey Country Club Wednesday afternoon leading Alvernia College to a 325 team total and 10th place at the Elizabethtown Invitational.

            Junior Doug McConnell (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) carded six birdies and finished at 3-over 74.  Freshman Jeremy Landis (Reading, PA/Central Catholic) shot 86, and Ryan Weaber (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) and Will Tonking (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon) both shot 92 for the Crusaders.

            Franklin & Marshall won the event in a tie-breaker over Susquehanna.  Both schools shot 300 to lead the way.  Alvernia will return to action next Thursday with a trip to Dover, Del., for the Wesley College Invitational at Wild Quail Country Club.
