Ashley Tatangelo (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) scored her second goal of the season just over eight minutes into overtime to give Alvernia College its eighth straight win, a 2-1 decision over Misericordia University in a battle of two conference undefeated teams Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at Mangelsdorf Field.
After more than an hour of scoreless play it was Alvernia junior
Christy Miller (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights) who found the back of the cage for the first goal of the day with under nine minutes to play. Misericordia (9-4, 7-1 PAC) answered back with just over two minutes to play on a goal by Jen Lozier.
The guest Crusaders (9-2, 6-0 PAC), who outshot Misericordia 19-9, earned the only two shots of the 7-on-7 overtime period with Tatangelo netting the game-winner in the 79th minute.
Alvernia junior
Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) needed just three saves to earn the victory.
The Crusaders will host William Paterson for a non-conference match on Saturday.
