York, Pa. (Mar. 26, 2007) – Junior Doug McConnell (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) shot 2-under 34 on his second nine to finish at 1-over 73 for the round and lead Alvernia College to a team score of 318 and a sixth place finish at the York College Spring Golf Invitational hosted by The Outdoor Country Club Monday afternoon.
York earned a seven stroke victory in its own event posting a team score of 293 to better second place Messiah College which finished at an even 300. McConnell finished in a tie for third with Messiah’s Corey Wenger. Alvernia sophomore Derek Stewart (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) shot 2-over 74. Junior Ryan Weaber (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) shot 79 and Ryan Rhodes (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Matt Galvin (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) shot 92 and 95 respectively.
Alvernia will return to action at the Lebanon Valley Invitational next Monday at the Lebanon Country Club.
