Nine Different Players Score For Crusaders

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 29, 2007) – Junior Katie O’Brien (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) scored a game-high five goals and eight other players scored for Alvernia College in a 17-0 win over Lancaster Bible Thursday afternoon in non-conference women’s lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

            Senior Karen Hutton (Ridgewood, NJ/Eastern Christian) and freshman Tara Walls (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) each handed out three assists to pace the Crusaders (1-2) and Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) and Amanda Odenwalt (Lancaster, PA/The Janus School) combined to make four saves in the shutout.  Senior Lisa Ross (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) led all players with seven ground balls.

            O’Brien opened the scoring with three straight tallies assisted by Ross, Hutton, and Walls in the first three minutes of play.  She added her fourth 12 minutes later and her fifth and final goal of the day two minutes before halftime.  Sophomore Chrissy Parris (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored a pair of goals in each half to finish with four.

            Alvernia will continue a modest three-game home series hosting conference rival Arcadia on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
