BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 10, 2007) – Junior McKenna Shafer (Delran, NJ/Cinnaminson) scored twice for Alvernia College in a 15-3 loss to Cabrini College Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Shafer scored Alvernia’s only goal of the first half on a free position shot to cut the early gap to 2-1, but Cabrini (9-2, 6-0 PAC) followed with five straight goals to close the half with a 7-1 lead at the break.  Alvernia (3-3, 2-3 PAC) freshman Tara Walls (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) scored the first goal of the second half, but Shafer’s second didn’t come until Cabrini had established a 14-2 lead with less than three minutes to play.

Alvernia seniors Lisa Ross (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and Megan Novogratz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) each had one assist and sophomore Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) made eight saves in net for the Crusaders.

Alvernia will host Centenary College this Thursday in non-conference action.
