Allentown, Pa. (Apr. 14, 2007) – Alvernia College got four goals each from McKenna Shafer (Delran, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Danielle Fitzpatrick (Old Bridge, NJ/old Bridge) and scored 14 goals before halftime in a 21-10 win over Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse action at Cedar Crest.

            In a game of streaks, Alvernia opened the scoring with six straight goals before the Falcons answered with four of their own.  Fitzpatrick scored her third of the game to start a new streak for Alvernia, which closed the first half with eight straight goals to take a 14-4 lead at the break.

            Alvernia added two more goals in start the second half to take its overall streak to 10 straight tallies with Shafer scoring her fourth and final goal of the game.  Cedar Crest cut the gap back to single digits at 18-9, but Alvernia scored three of the final four goals of the day for the 21-10 final.

            Alvernia goalies Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) and Amanda Odenwalt (Lancaster, PA/The Janus School) each played a half and Odenwalt made the Crusaders’ only save of the day.

            Alvernia will play at Chestnut Hill on Monday.
