Decisive Third Quarter Leads Misericordia Past Alvernia

Crusaders Drop To 2-4 In Conference

Dallas, Pa. (Apr. 24, 2007) – College Misericordia scored five goals in a decisive third quarter leading to a 12-5 win over Alvernia College Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse action at Mangelsdorf Field.

            Misericordia (5-6, 2-3 PAC) posted two-goal advantages in both the first and second quarter to build a 7-3 lead at the halftime break.  The hosts completed what amounted to  streak of seven straight goals spanning the second and third quarters to take a 12-3 lead with just over six minutes left in the third.

            Alvernia (4-9, 2-4 PAC) scored the final two goals of the game to post the 12-5 final.  Alvernia freshman Chris Baker (Exeter, PA/Exeter) and sophomore Tom Fraker (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) scored two goals apiece to lead the Crusaders, and freshman goalie Mark Lenahan (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) made nine saves in net for the Crusaders.

            Alvernia will travel to Centenary College on Tuesday for a non-conference match-up with the Cyclones.
