BOX SCORE
Hackettstown, NJ (Apr. 24, 2007) – Sophomore attack Tom Fraker (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) scored three of his game-high six goals during the second quarter as Alvernia turned an early 2-1 deficit into a 5-3 halftime lead en route to a 10-8 win over Centenary College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference men’s lacrosse action at Centenary.
Junior Tom Novak (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) added two goals for Alvernia (5-9) and freshman goalie Mark Lenahan (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) made nine saves to record the win.
Fraker opened the scoring for Alvernia assisted by Sean Cullen (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton), who continues to build on a school record for assists in a season. His four helpers on Tuesday give him 19 for the season, six better than the previous record of 13 which he shared with Novak.
Centenary (3-12) answered the Alvernia goal with two and took a 2-1 lead after the first quarter. Novak and Fraker each scored to open the second quarter and regain the lead, and Fraker deposited two more in the quarter to give the guest Crusaders a 5-3 lead at the break.
Both teams netted four goals in the third quarter including two more from Fraker and the sophomore returned the earlier favor setting up Cullen in the fourth to close the scoring.
Alvernia will finish out the regular season with a trip to Wesley College on Saturday.
