Bath, Pa. (Apr. 5, 2007) – Wild chills dipped into the low 20s and snow occasionally drove across the fairways at Southmoore Golf Course where sophomore Derek Stewart (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) and junior Doug McConnell (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) both broke 80 to lead Alvernia College to a 333 team total and 8th place out of 20 teams at the Moravian College Spring Golf Invitational.
Stewart shot matching 39s on both sides to shoot 78 and tie for 10th individually. McConnell tied for 12th with a 38-41-79. Freshman Jeremy Landis (Reading, PA/Central Catholic) shot 85 and Cory McCuen (Chambersburg, PA/) shot 91.
Keystone College finished first with a team score of 319 and Moravian’s Brian Bergstol shot 68 for medalist honors.
Alvernia will return to action at Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday.
