Aston, Pa. (Apr. 5, 2007) – Senior Lisa Ross (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) scored a team-high five goals and Alvernia College held onto a big second half lead for a 16-14 win over Neumann College Thursday morning in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse action at Neumann.

            Junior Katie O’Brien (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley) scored three minutes into the second half to give the guest Crusaders (5-2, 3-2 PAC) a 13-5 lead, but Neumann (3-2, 2-2 PAC) stormed back with five of the next six goals to cut the gap to four, 14-10 with 15:47 to play.

            Ross scored to stop the run and Laura-Beth Diggs (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Twp.) scored an insurance goal with eight minutes left.  Sophomore goalie Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) made 13 saves in net for the Crusaders.

            Ross opened the scoring under a minute into play unassisted and scored three of her five goals in the first half as the Crusaders opened up a 9-4 lead at the break.  O’Brien scored her second and third of the game in the opening minutes of the second half as the Crusaders pulled away.

            Alvernia will return to action next Tuesday hosting conference power Cabrini College.
