Alvernia Outshot 5-13

BOX SCORE

Lancaster, Pa. (September 8, 2007) – Alvernia College fell to 2-2 on the season as they lost to F&M by a score of 0-3 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Crusaders managed only five shots on the day, lead by senior Brandi Light (Myerstown, PA / Tulpehocken) who fired off four shots, including two shots on goal. After starting their season with two convincing wins, Alvernia has now lost two in a row.

F&M got on the board in the 27th minute when junior forward Amy Cawley (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) lofted the ball just out of the reach of Alvernia goalie Danielle Fitzpatrick (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge). They added an insurance goal an hour into the game when Kelsey Tylus (Skillman, NJ/Hun) assisted senior forward Sarah George (Bronxville, N\Y/Bronxville) as she rebounded Tylus' shot off the post into the far right corner. F&M capped their scoring when junior forward Brittany Easter (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) played a pass from Kathryn Daniels (Tolland, CT/Tolland) and connected on a one-on-one with Alvernia goalie Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, PA / Bishop Shanahan HS).

Alvernia had the advantage in corner kicks with four, compared to F&M's three. Freshman Stephanie Loftus (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) rounded out the Alvernia's shooting with one shot on goal, and Fitzpatrick managed two saves on the day, one in each half.

Alvernia will look to get back above .500 in their young season as they open their PAC season at home against Centenary on Sept. 12 at 4:00 pm.
