Flushing Meadows, N.Y. (Mar. 15, 2008) – Alvernia College Men's Tennis evened up at 1-1 on the young season falling 7-2 to Baruch College at the United States Tennis Center Saturday afternoon in a rematch of a first round NCAA Championships match from a season ago.
The Crusaders played without sophomore No. 1
Zach Lockwood (Reading, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and earned one point each in both singles and doubles play. Senior
Phil Snyder (Emmaus, Pa./Notre Dame) moved up a spot to No. 1 and suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss.
David Schaeffer (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) moved into the No. 2 spot and also lost in straight set.
Senior No. 3
Kyle Levengood (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) went three sets earning a point in the match with a 13-11 decision in the final set. Levengood teamed with Schaeffer at No. 2 doubles for a 8-7 (7-4) win.
Alvernia will host local rival Penn State-Berks in non-conference action on Tuesday.
