Alvernia Just Short At Eastern

Lynch And Tatangelo Score For Crusaders

St. David's, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2009) - Alvernia University senior Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) continued to show the scoring touch with her sixth goal in the last three games, but Eastern (8-4) scored with three minutes left for a 3-2 win over the Crusaders (6-6) Thursday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Eastern.

Lynch got Alvernia on the board with her ninth of the season assisted by Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) in the 19th minute.  Eastern tied the score in the 25th minute and it remained knotted at 1-1 into the second half.

Alvernia junior Ashley Tatangelo (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) put the Crusaders back on top with her fifth of the season in the 46th minute assisted by Lauren Guido (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood), but once again the Eagles found the equalizer, this time 10 minutes later.

The Eagles, who held a 25-5 advantage in shots, scored the game-winner at 67:41.

Alvernia sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) was stellar in net for the Crusaders making a career-high 15 saves.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule with a trip to Arcadia this Saturday.
